| From a seed - Tamarindus Indica Defoliated - close up - new growth - Tamarind new buds - The idea is to see how small I can make a Tamarind Bonsai. soil - sifted crushed porous red earthenware brick sifted silica based sharp sand home made compost some cocopeat As the new buds come in I choose which ones to keep. Note the bamboo stick for knocking off buds. Top 1 leaf, Middle 2 leaves Bottom 3 leaves. Technique - Lingnan - Grow and Clip. No wires needed. This year coming I will allow the bottom branch to grow to say 1.5 metres and thicken both the trunk and the first branch. One more image to come when I return home. I am abroad presently. Best to you, Pak. Stay Well All. Khaimraj |

| Morning Pak,
it is probably about 2 years old.
Some Tamarinds from young start off with more branches
So I am checking to see if I can create believable, dense of branch small bonsai - say under 30 cm.
I will try to send a few more images. Khaimraj |

| As it is today, courtesy my friend. Next step, the tree will start yet another set of buds and give me more branches in about 2 or 3 weeks. Khaimraj |

| Merry Christmas !!
Pak,
if you have the yard space. It is better to learn to on several tamarinds, and use clip and grow. However, the coldest temperature for my island is 19 deg.c so you have to factor that in as well.
You may also find it easier to just grow for trunk size, and then just cut down to say 7.5 cm to 13 cm and start over for the first, second and third branch. It normally take 5 to 10 years to get a well shaped Tamarind and about 15 years for the bark to start flaking off for the mature state of the trunk.
However this an easy tree to work with. Khaimraj |

| Khaimraj,
That's a nice tree you have.... and with what you are planning to do, it would indeed be a good specimen in the coming days.
Regards, Shaukat |
