as i do,
i use plants and trees of local spicies and pots too.
why to use expensive pots when we have local made in very reasonable price.
khan as i have never tried to find bonsai pots i do use "piyala" (bowl) and "kanali" (the pot usually used by milk seller for DAHI.
you can also ask a local pitcher maker to make some for you.
lets wait for some reply if some one uses the bonsai pots
for soil:
khan try to make one for your self please refer to bonsai soil in the post of basic of bonsai
http://pakbonsai.forumotion.com/some-basics-about-bonsai-f6/bonsai-soil-t14.htm
if you feel any difficulty to make your soil please ask.
welcome

try to use local pots, our local artist are making some good pots we can ask them to creat some bonsai pots for us,
just show them the picture of the pot they will make for you.
i have checked online pots they are expensive to us.
as a student i will prefer local pots as mentioned by Pak bonsai.
piyala and kanali available in all sizes.

Whatever soil you use, keep in mind that it needs to be very porous (for good drainage), good particle size for fibrous root growth (not too large, not too small), and something that doesn't break (decompose) easily. You can always use some kind of fertilizer to feed (for tree health).

I can think of only one inorganic material easily found all over Pakistan; in Urdu it is called 'raith' I am not sure in English, but I think it is called 'river sand'. In my area I use something called 'Turface' a lot, which is basically very small particles of baked clay.

Hi,

My name is umair and i am new member.
i just wanna ask that while making a bonsai soil mix can i use small stones called chips which is made from grinded marble and used in floors in pakistan or should i use gravel (Bajri) used in roads?
i am planning to grow pine and juniper so i know that they dont need much watering . so which option is better?
Moreover can i use uria in soil for better results?

The problem with marble is that the ph level is higher for most plant's liking (high ph = high alkalinity). Bajri like raith (river sand) is fine... this maybe slightly alkaline, but fertilizer lowers the alkalinity (more acidic) which is what most plants prefer.

Urea is very high in Nitrogen; use something with a balanced N, P, K ratio (equal amounts of Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium).

You should get stuff like fish-meal, bone-meal, blood-meal from any good nursery around you. A ratio of 1:2:1 of these should be good. Put the mixture in a bowl, add some water and try to make them into small pellets (maybe add some dry grass for the pellets to hold when it dries).

When I was a kid, my uncle used to make fish food (not sure what went in it) into pellets using the same method. He was a fish hobbyist.
