| Here is a collected Spruce from the Rocky Mountains in Colorado; Probably collected around 5 years ago. The estimated age is from 180 to 220 years. The way people estimate age is to take a dead branch or break a branch and count the rings based on the diameter. Then they measure the diameter of the trunk and estimate it... if there is considerable deadwood, then chances are the tree is much older than you estimated; because deadwood can stay on a tree for many, many years. And here it is after some initial work on it earlier this year. | |
